@ taracutch:

My doctor suggested Isopure, especially for the week after surgery! I have found that there are a lot of differences in the liquid diet. I'm curious as to why too!

I feel sick of the shakes already. How much Protein are you getting a day with the liquid diet? I'm getting about 90 grams. Maybe I need more. I'm weak and have a headache all afternoon in work. I'm only on day 3 of 14.

One thing that helped me was having a cup of hot broth. I like Swanson brand flavor infused broths--chicken tortilla and Tuscan chicken were my favorite.

Im', definitely weak. I'm just hungry all day. I just find it odd that some Pre-Op diets include chicken and veggies while others don't.

There are several different versions of a pre-op diet. Some are extremely strict (clear liquids only), the time frame of the diet varies and some don't have one at all.

I'm not weak or shaky... Just very hungry and cranky. My niece calls it "hangry." Lol. I have been dipping into my post op Protein Soups, shakes and drinks. I didn't want to but the Protein is filling. I get 60 grams per day.

I am on day 9 and I am so cranky the littlest thing makes me mad I can't wait for this part to be over

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It feels so good to feel sorry for myself and get sympathy from someone going though it too. My family is over it and I hate them for eating. Lol. Not really hate. I just want them to leave me alone.

I'm going to have to check into this nutritional yeast thing.

You'll love it. I promise---well, I hope anyway. :)

Sprinkle it on your entrée. Mix it into Soups and stews.

I shake it onto green salads. I forgot what stage you're at.

I love the cheezy/bready taste it adds--as well as more Protein.

Let me know if you like it or not.

You can buy informational books about it on Amazon.< /p>

Good luck, Friend.

Day 3. Much better today. I don't feel like I'm starving but for some reason I'm incredibly thirsty and I've been guzzling Water which is a good thing but I have an unquenchable thirst no matter how much Water I drink. I wonder what's up with that?

Try adding a little lemon to your water. Sometimes that will help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
