I'm glad I'm not the only one. It feels so good to feel sorry for myself and get sympathy from someone going though it too. My family is over it and I hate them for eating. Lol. Not really hate. I just want them to leave me alone.

Everyone's so sick of me saying how hungry I am too! Lol.

My surgeon does not require a pre op diet. he thinks the results are too insignificant.

In terms of liver shrinking or weight loss? Cause if he's referring to weight loss, I think he's wrong. I dropped 17 pounds last time I did the pre-op diet.

Now liver shrinking, who knows. Nobody is measuring livers prior to the pre-op diet start. But I do wonder what the difference from before and after are for the liver.

Good luck!!

Well I'm doing great now. To confirm my pre op diet includes a 4 Protein Meal Replacements + 1 meal.

I have a 20 oz blender cup so i make two 8 oz Protein Shakes in one cup.

I drink the 1.5L Evian water bottle so i alternate from Water to shake throughout the day.

I sip on the shake starting about the morning ride to work 8:15am until lunchtime about 1pm.

I have a cup of fruit and a serving iof raw veggies on my desk like cucumber, carrots, watermelon, strawberries, cantoloupe, etc.

So I eat the fruit and drink water after i finish the shakes. Whatever i don't eat I just throw in my purse for later.

About 4, (I'm off at 5) i make another 16 oz serving and sip from 4 until dinner which is about 730 or 8.

My kids play sports so im usually heading over to a field right after work and I set up my chair and plop my cup in the cupholder sip and nibble on my veggies.

By the time i get home I'm finding I'm ok and didn't need the meal which would include 1 protein, 1 starch, and at least 1 low starch veggie. But it's soooo nice to know I can have it.

I don't have to but I'll prob do clears 24 hours before surgery then obviously nothing by mouth after 7pm or midnight or whatever time they tell me.

I use a nutribullet in the mornings but, other than that nothing special. Just those cups with the whisking ball inside. shake and add a little ice and go.

I invested in a baby bullet and am thrilled with it. It comes with a very small cup to blend in and lots of mini storage containers. <3 it!!

@ he doesn't believe it makes a significant impact on the liver.

That's what I figured.

I wonder how much our livers do shrink?

Ok so don't use this as an excuse to cheat but after week one of liquid dieting I went to my appointment and the surgeon said I can have a couple cheat days bc the 2 week diet isn't necessary for me with a lower BMI (40). He said he really only needs me to diet for 3 days but his staff tells everyone 2 weeks so the others won't get upset. So I got to eat but didn't go overboard

But for those who are doing 2 weeks don't feel bad bc after I had a couple more food funerals I felt TERRIBLE. I thought I would add that so I don't have a mutiny. I was doing so well and feeling so great and I feel like crap now. I'm bloated and miserable and struggling to get back on track so I wish he would have never given me the green light.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
