I seem to have lost all motivation to eat. Nothing sounds good. It's like I've developed a food aversion. I'm almost 5 weeks out and on pureed phase. I usually just drink milk and maybe have a few bites of eggs or grits a day. No where near my Protein goal because anything with artificial sweeteners in it makes me sick.

Advice please. Thanks in advance.

how are you doing with liquids? I find if I get slightly dehydrated I have more of an aversion to food. I just eat what I am supposed to anyway.

I didn't have a lot of motivation at that time too.

I tried to find things I enjoyed eating and reminded myself that Protein would help me lose faster and healthier.

one of my favorite things at that stage (and today) was refried black Beans, salsa, and cheese

Heated up in the microwave so the cheese gets melty

I can even add GENEPRO Protein powder to it in, and it tastes so good!

A good source of Fiber, Protein, and healthy carbs.

Just try to find things that you enjoy! try to have fun with it. We're all here because we enjoy food, and there's no reason you can't do so still! Just in a healthier way, and in moderation. :)

liquids are ok but it's just so damn HOT!!! I'll try to up it and try the refried Beans. I was afraid they'd be too much.

Thanks guys.

I am struggling with this now... however i have been on solids since week 4. I just started week 7.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and there wasn't anything that really interested me... i am a good cook... and can get quite creative with food... but nothing appealed to me.. everything was like... meh... but i brought stuff cause i needed to.. not cause I wanted to

Maybe try unflavored Protein Powder (Unjury.com has some in individual packets you could try) added to some broth. I have been enjoying a puréed black bean Soup (2 cans) made with onions (diced), a little jalapeño pepper 1 tblsp diced), 6 cups low sodium chicken broth, 1 can diced tomatoes and spices (chili powder, oregano paprika cumin. ). I serve it topped with shredded cheddar cheese. Yum. Lots of Fiber and Protein. Also I enjoy plain low sugar Greek yogurt.

If you don't like sugar substitutes you can use puréed fruit like peaches or banana to sweeten.

Set a series of alarms and eat a measured out portion at those designated times.

Softly scrambled eggs with cheese and butter

Refried Beans and cheese

Guacamole or hummus (or cream cheese!) on a spoon
Crab, shrimp or seafood salad

Great quality cheese (cheese sticks are good, but explore brie and gouda and goat cheese and Irish cheddar)

There are so many great quality, high flavored foods and while you many not FEEL like eating, you NEED to eat, so you might as well find something you really enjoy.

Protein goals are good, Fluid goals are better. You'll get there.

@@Tssiemer1 There's so many possibilities that don't have artificial sweeteners. @@LipstickLady had some great suggestions. Try some creamed/strained Soups, ricotta bake (recipe online), cottage cheese (mash it up), add Protein powder to mashed sweet potatoes, eggplant puree, ... add spices and try different recipes. And be sure to drink plenty of fluids.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
