Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

For those of you who have gone to goo will to buy transition clothes. Do you think there is a better day of the week to go? I am thinking it might be Wednesday as people drop stuff off over the weekend and that would leave Monday and Tues to sort and get stuff off.

I find it odd. It looks like I kept dressy type clothes for a couple of sizes going down but missing some in casual like caprices.

Ask at your goodwill in particular bc they are all different! I like to go on Sundays bc that's the day a new color tag goes on sale at half price. Mine also has a "new items" rack and they put an entire new rack of stuff daily except for Friday-Sunday so I can drop in if I'm grocery shopping next door and just look at that rack!

Sunday and Wednesday are the 99 c day here, so I tend to go on Wednesday night.

I don't go on a specific day so much as I go to the ones in the more affluent areas. The brands are usually higher quality.

Many cities and towns have multiple second-hand / thrift / consignment clothing for sale by these groups:

* Goodwill

* Salvation Army

* Churches (the Episcopalians have really nice clothes ;) )

* Hospitals

* Charitable organizations that support women's shelters and women re-entering the work force

* For-profit consignment clothing stores

* Plato's Closet (this is a for-profit chain)

Online sites that sell second-hand clothing include:

* thredUP

* The Attic

* Poshmark

* mashable

* eBay

What I have heard from clerks at Goodwill is that Tuesday is a good day to go. They receive so many donations over the weekend. It takes them time to get the stuff out on the floor.

Wow. This post was really helpful. I love this site and really enjoy reading all of the wonderful post. I have never shopped at a goodwill, but it will be first on my list when I can drive. I'm 8 days post op, but I have to wear a suit to work 4 days a week. This was really helpful.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
