s.thompson 10 Posted June 11, 2016 As I'm slowly eating things, which now is only maybe once a day, but my doctor gave me something to help me eat. I am confused as to if I am having hunger pains or pains when I eat. To me they both have seemed similar but I am not sure. Now I am eating dinner and when I chew then swallow I get pains shortly after, but if I don't eat the pain is still there. So I am not sure the pain is there because I'm hungry and I'm getting food in or is it pain telling me to stop. When I chew I always wait at least 40 seconds before I put more food in. KindaFamiliar 3,867 Posted June 11, 2016 Is it actually "pain" or is it just a weird feeling? Post-op, I had this weird, 'hollow' feeling that could have been hunger but wasn't... I had it constantly, whether I'd eaten or not... It wasn't pain... Wasn't even discomfort.. But it was definitely something...
s.thompson 10 Posted June 11, 2016 @@KindaFamiliar Its kind of like a pain but also like before surgery and I hadn't eaten. My doctor told me that I wouldn't feel the growl or hungry anymore but I feel like I do. I can drink Water and it start, sometimes its like a pulsing pain and others it feels like I'm hungry, but when I do eat its still there. I don't see my doctor until the 28th
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted June 11, 2016 Based on your description it is hard to figure out what you mean How far out are you? What phase? What are you eating? Are you taking small bites, chewing thoroughly and eating slowly? Are you taking a PPI?
s.thompson 10 Posted June 11, 2016 @@Inner Surfer Girl I am 3 weeks out, I'm pureed's right now. The "pain" will come whether I have Water or applesauce. and I don't know what PPI is sorry

Did you have a hiatal hernia repair? What does your surgeon say about your symptoms?

Your doctor "gave you something to help you eat"? What is it? I think that if you are this unhappy and in pain, you should call and talk to the "on call" doctor. I think you'll feel better just talking him/her. --especially since they are aware of your problem enough to "give you something to help you eat". I sincerely think you should call and get some advice from them. Feel better, friend. Post and let us know what you find out. Prayers going up.
