Hi guys! One of my favorite things ever is hot sauce I don't know if I'm allowed to have it yet I'm about 3 months post op. Just wondering what everyone's experience with spicy food was especially hot sauce! And when you started having it? Thanks!

I don't think I had any restrictions on hot sauce. At 3 months out I think you would be safe in trying a little to see how it goes.

I didn't have any restrictions with hot sauce, and started putting some on my cottage cheese about 2 weeks post op. Along with salt and pepper, yum! I never had an issue with it.

I added hot sauce to my refried Beans at two weeks post op. No problems. I was not given any restriction on it. My NUT just told me to go easy at first to see if I had reflux or heartburn issues or any other problems.

I think I was somewhere around the 9 week mark.

I began grilling again had some wings on the grill. I used a good hearty rub on them and sauced them three different ways for everyone. One of them was a no carb buffalo style sauce. After I had two of those and the sauce didn't cause any issues..............it was game on from that point forward.

FTR, my favorite Breakfast is a fried egg over easy with Tobasco sauce and ground pepper all over it. Yeah, buddy. Good stuff.

I started using hot sauces at about two weeks post surgery.

Follow your post op plan and introduce them slowly to see how you respond to them. Enjoy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
