Surgery Monday...the anxiety

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery Monday and the anxiety is unreal. I'm so hungry!!! I want to eat a steak so bad!! I keep staring at Ninja wondering what I can put in it! Lol!! I want to eat some food, but I already slipped up and ate a piece of turkey breast. The idea of drainage tubes coming out of my body seems so painful right now.

I am trying so hard. I've been going to bed early each night to be sure I comply! I have lost about 8lbs. This is great in itself considering I went through six months of diet and exercise and only lost 12 lbs. which is generally what happens when I diet. I am praying that this surgery will help me be successful with my weight loss. Thanks for the reply.

I still got a month to go so I can only imagine the anxiety and racing thoughts you must be experiencing. Only advise I can give is to maybe embrace these feelings and realy go with it. Maybe you will get it all out of your system...and maybe don't listen to me at all. What do I know? Lol. Best of luck to you.

you'll sleep tomorrow, so don't worry if you can't sleep. take a bath, clean out the silverware drawer, anything to take your mind off it. even binge watch something on netflix.

please let us know how you are doing!

This is probably better advice. I'd go with this ????

Hi all, I'm about 12 hours out and so far everything has been great. No gas pains, just a little discomfort from the drain. I am not allowed to have any liquids until tomorrow morning. I was allowed to have a sponge with a little Water on it to rinse my mouth.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
