I am totally obsessing over my first appt. I am so impatient and want to get things going. I have been waiting a month for this appt.

How long after your first appt did it take to actually get your surgery date?

I was given a surgery Date the day of my appointment on the condition I met all the pre surgical requirements. The date was six weeks after my initial appointment and has since been brought forward two weeks. Each practice will be different though. :)

Luckily, I do not require a supervised diet beforehand. It would be amazing to have a date right away.

:) I just finished my 6 month supervised diet I started January of this year. Insurance required. I also had to do a one time counseling appointment half way through my supervised diet. All of my paperwork was faxed to the bariatric center on June 21st. I just received a call today to schedule my surgery which is scheduled for August 3rd. Before surgery I still have to go have a chest xray.barium swallow,EKG,and blood work also that day i will get my pre and post op diet instructions. Then I also have a appt with the surgeon also before surgery.

Good luck! I am super excited but it has been quite a bit of time.

That is so awesome. I didn't get my surgery date until getting insurance approval. I was "tempted" today to call my surgeons office and ask to be considered to move my date up for surgery if anyone cancels or doesn't want the surgery...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
