Doing Something for the First Time

Recommended Posts

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

I have been doing lots of things for the first time in a long time lately.

I wore a bikini yesterday for the first time in my life - in my backyard / alone / for my eyes only (anyone else would have runaway screaming "My eyes! My Eyes!!".) I strongly resemble a shar pei right now, but it sure was nice having to wait for that huge skirted swimsuit I have worn in the past to dry before I came in the house!

This is awesome. If I ever wear a bikini it will also be the first time (except for one time I wore one at home in the wooded backyard by myself to work on my tan many, many years ago).

I recently signed up for a Life and Tone class. I have never worked out in public... so that has been new. I'm enjoying it for the most part, lol.

I signed on as a volunteer facilitator for a new, weekly book club for people with developmental disabilities. We had our first meeting this morning. This is going to be an excellent experience for the participants.

I just bought my first bikini too! Granted, it's high waisted because I've got some loose skin that I don't like to look at, but still! I'm breaking it in tomorrow, and hoping I don't want to crawl into a hole once I'm out in public!

Love it!

I'd love to hear about what books you are going to read.

I went hiking!! I went to the Smoky Mountains and climbed Clingmans Dome. That may not sound like a lot .... But 5 years ago I tried this hike and I could not do it.... I didn't even make it 1/10th of the way up the trail before I had to stop and give up. I remember leaving disappointed. Well this year I did it!!! Made the climb... Saw the dome for the first time..... I felt like crying tears of joy!! post-262792-14656600715525_thumb.jpg

Just remember, ISG----it has to be an "itsy bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow, polka dotted bikini". You've earned it! :)

For me?

After my skin surgery, I am going zip lining with my daughters. I still can't believe that they have talked me into thinking that zip lining is my "reward" for my WLS journey. I begin to think there's "shenanigans" afloat! But, I'm looking forward to the adventure of it with my grown daughters.

PS: Did I mention that I am terrified of heights? Oh my...

I want to go zip lining after I lose more weight!

Come along with us! We are just a wee bit away, though. :)

Maybe if you went with my daughters, I could slip away to the finish line and just say that I did it!!!

Did I mention that I am terrified of heights?? Whose idea was this anyway? I'll have to check my will.....

I personally know how hard that climb is! I thought I would die on that trek. That was several years ago at close to 300 pounds wearing stupid shoes. Congratulations!!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
