Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

Recommended Posts

I don't see where you can find what you want to ask bc there are a million posts with a million answers. So why not make a new one that is subjected to yourself! Basically don't be snotty just bc you see a repeat and I think if you do then your in the wrong tab! Bc I look at this daily and I don't see repeats by different people usually it's the same post from days ago bc someone new posted on it... Also drinking and smoking should always be a no it's not good for y'all in the long run

The last few weeks I've been seeing a lot of rude responses to posts........each time I saw one I wanted to respond and ask "WTH is your problem?"......but knew that would just add to the drama, and I think that's what those folks are seeking anyway......So I found this "Rant" section and decided this would be the place to express my low opinion of those posters that seem to think that name calling and talking down to people is the way to respond to posts on a support forum....I see this type of response most often from some of the long timers. I'm not going to name names, because I know you know who you are because it is obvious it is done intentionally.....My advice to those folks, is if you're no longer able to provide support without being sarcastic, maybe it's time you move on with your life and just leave the forum and find something you're good at......It's great to have long timers here that will share their experiences with newbies because it is priceless when shared appropriately.....but if you don't know how to do it in a way that is supportive, you're only being hurtful and may actually cause someone not to ask a future question for fear they will be attached for being stupid......

That's the end of my rant.............As Ellen says at the end of all her shows............"Be kind to one another"

I myself come to these threads for the entertainment value! Wouldn't miss em for the world!!!

haha I actually think that may be the whole reason I posted the original post.....I'll be 4 weeks post op on Monday and think I'm having a hormonal dump and just needed a good snarky pissy conversation...hahaha

Let me clarify..........I certainly still standby what I've said in my original post and still believe people should be able to ask questions without fear of being belittled .......

What I'm admitting to is I knew the post would spark some good banter and due to the b:tchy mood I've been in today it sort of "hit the spot" and was just what I needed......actually saved my husband from having to take the brunt of it...haha :)

and editing to add.........that's why I've posted this in the "Rant" section.....actually thought that was the whole purpose of this section.

@

Actually, I think the OP put herself on blast with the original post itself, and then admitting she did it just for the sake of feeling ... I think she used the word ... b!tchy? That kinda sealed the deal.

I also think a lot of those who also love to point fingers also called themselves out, but they probably will never see the irony in their accusations.

Anywho... Such is the life on an internet forum. I will go on being me, y'all go on being you. Hopefully EVERYONE will learn something today, hug someone they love, take a moment to enjoy a good meal, spend a few moments with a good book and a good friend, and realize just how lucky they are in the grand scheme of things.

I never said a name ,but if you want me to sure ill point out Lipstick lady is a sarcastic, Rude, Ignorant and whatever comes to everyone else's mind..she has to comment on everything with a snarky rude comments...but i guess she forgot she was a newbie once...I will never take advice from someone like her,and yes im sure she can read this..but idc..for the other lady, that you said i might of bumped my head..she must of felt i was talking to her, i wonder why..when i never said or mentioned a name ..

OK, you want to rumble?

I'm gonna speak up here for @@LipstickLady, who is my friend. She has been great to me. When I was a newbie here (a few years ago), Lipstick gave me so much good advice I have never forgotten it.

One bit of advice was: "Don't waste my first six months post-op, which are a magic time for weight loss. You will never lose weight again as fast as you can during this early period after your WLS.

Another bit of good advice she offered was something you haven't quite grasped yet: "Take the good you find here, leave the rest."

A third bit of good advice she has always given is: "Don't assume your experience is a universal WLS experience -- it's just your experience. Therefore, don't go around telling everyone that your experience is what they should expect."

Finally, here is some advice from ME to the newbies who have gotten their tits caught in a wringer about the "tone" of this message board:

1. Try to lighten the f**k up. I know many of you are pre-op and going through your pre-op jitters. All the veterans understand what that was like. But trust me, not everyone here made others' lives miserable just because we had the jitters.

2. Finally, this will shock the hell out of some of you, but nobody who posts on this message board is here to serve your needs. No matter whether we're pre-op or five years post-op, most of us are here to help ourselves. Yes, we reach out to others with support from time to time, but nobody here is your mommy or your daddy. Every single person here has a plateful of challenges -- whether it's getting through the pre-op diet or struggling with regain or caring for a family member who has cancer or working for the world's worst boss or trying to overcome a transfer addiction or raising our grandchildren. YOU are not the center of OUR universes. WE are.

Do i want to Rumble, a grow woman asking me to rumble on an app..lady go fly a kite..if i, and others feel this way about who i just mentioned, now was for you i guess the shoe fitted YOU!. Don't respond Back..i put enough energy to read the first sentence of your novel.

In other words: just like any other self-help group, whether online or IRL.

On the other hand, if it weren't for Snickers I wouldn't be here typing on this ridiculous thread on a lovely Saturday morning. ;)

I can't believe anyone who has been on the internet more than five minutes would whine or complain about other peoples behavior, on the internet.

Boggles the mind.

On the internet, I say exactly what I would, and have, said in person. Not everyone likes me. I would be afraid if everyone did.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
