Oh my goodness! Yesterday, my August 24th surgery is now set in stone! I'm so excited!

Lucky you!! Congrats! I haven't gotten a surgery date as of yet, but I'm hoping for the end of August/beginning of September. I still have like 3 more visits with my doctors office. I am hoping that I can get a date by the end of this month or sometime in July as I have completed all the requirements for surgery except the 6 months of visits and a chest xray and ekg ( I'd have to wait until close to surgery to get those last two).

August 1st over here! So excited and ready! Been working on getting surgery going since November of 2015, so 9 months start-to-finish process for moi.

My liquid diet starts 7/17 with a big colon cleanse 7/31 before 8/1 surgery. Am I nuts that I'm excited for this because that means surgery is imminent? LOL. I'm so ready to do this!

United Health Care. They approved me right away! So far so good! :)

What insurance do you guys have and how long does it take to get approved?

Just scheduled mine for August 15th. Really anxious, but I know it's the best decision for me. I'm glad I have the opportunity to do this and my insurance is covering it.

Hi all. I think I will be on the schedule in August. Yesterday I met with the dietician (for 5th time) and psych (for 2nd time) and they said they were going to review my case and try to submit to insurance. Today I received a copy of the letter they sent to the insurance. Now I'll be holding my breath for approval! I think I could probably schedule in July if they approve right off, but its such a busy month, I think it would be better to wait to the beginning of August. Heck, I made first contact with the surgeon's office in November, what's waiting a few more weeks?

It is all feeling very real now though and I'm getting quite excited!

My last appt is July 12. I'm really hoping for an early August sleeve date!

I had an appointment with my surgeon today and they are submitting to my insurance for an early August surgery date (TBD), I'm hoping for a quick approval but the surgeon thinks they might try to fight it because my BMI is a 39, but because I'm a band to sleeve revision (after a slip and band failure) he's confident it will be approved! Now the waiting game begins!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
