I need help with my scar

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm freaking out right now. One of my scar (one of the little ones) has two strands of plastic, I'm guessing that it was used to close the wound. I had my surgery on May 16 and I have 5 incisions and they well an covered with the "glue". No I have 3 scars that have lost the glue or most of it and I can see the scar left behind. I'm really nervous as to why I can see the "plastic strand" sticking out of my body. Is this normal? Do they fall out? Something's wrong?

Doctors office is close and I'm going crazy.

Community please help.

I always have them. They are dissolve stitches so you can try and pull it alittle and clip it. That is what the dr always tells me to do. Hope that helps!!!

If there is no redness nor pain, I would put a band aid over it and call your bariatric team in the morning.

.

If you are going to panic, then call the office now and ask for a call back by the physician on call.

Rest easy. Take a deep breath. Call now or in the morning. Which ever will put you at ease.

Prayers going up for you, Friend.

i had my sleeve surgery on June 15, 2015-two of my incisions had them sticking out, gallbadder was removed on Dec 29, 2015 -one of my incisions had it sticking out. I had plates and screws removed from my arm and had three stitches come through. Every time I have call and told them about it that is what they have told me. When I had my gallbladder removed, it was about a month later when I saw stitch pop out and when I pulled it to clip it, it actually just came right out. I have been told that I will always have this problem as my body is very sensitive to any foreign objects(hints me having to get the plates and screws removed, my body started to reject them)

I saw my surgeon today and had some of those sticking out. The nurse just snipped them off. She said as the body heals sometimes some of the stitches can come out and it's just part of the healing process. As long as there is not redness or signs of infection around the incision you can most likely just snip them off!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
