I am 3 days post op and I am able to get my 75g of Protein in but I am only getting about 50 ounces of Fluid because everything I swallow gives me a cramping/spasm sensation it doesn't last long but it does happen. Any suggestions.

yes on the different temps! but I just kept drinking and dealt with the cramping pain because in the hospital they reassured me I wasn't injuring myself to do so. it lessens pretty quickly - you should be coming to the end of it soon.

If you are getting 50 ounces in at 3 days post op you are doing well. You are going through a healing process so you can't expect to get in so quickly. After my sleeve 2 years ago it took me 3 to 4 weeks to get that much Fluid in. You'll get to the goal amounts don't rush yourself. I am having a revision to RNY in August so I'm dreading having to do it all again.

I am constantly sipping and this is over the course of about 14-16 hours in a day. At discharge they made me feel like i should be able to do it with no problems so it's good to know that this is something I'll have to work into

You definately don't want to do too much too fast right after surgery. You are still healing. Also you are all swollen inside so your sleeve is extra small right now.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
