I don't want that to take my happiness I want to hear success stories without cosmetic surgery so I can relate more. Maybe I'm just having a emotional day agian I'm only 1 week out.

I am 6 months oug and prefer not to think about it until I have to. Maybe insurance will cover some for you when the time is right. Some people won't need it. Young. Smaller weight loss. Good skin. Good luck.

My surgeon, primary care doctor and anything else I have seen says toning up will lessen loose skin... A weight training program builds muscle... Might still have loose skin but you will look more toned.

@@moniquea I'm sure you're emotional. Loose skin is not the end of the world - or the end of your life ... obesity could have been! It's mostly about genetics, age, how much weight lost, how often did you gain/lose, etc. Think about how much better you will feel when you've lost weight - and don't worry about skin issues!

about 15 years ago my mom lost 150 pounds. She had some health conditions and was told loose weight or you are not going to see your grandchildren grow up.

plastics were not in the equation for her as she hates to go to the doctor. so, she did have quite a bit of loose belly skin although the rest of her has always looked pretty age appropriate. She just tucked it into her jeans and went on with her life.

went.on.with.her.life. as in, she has seen already most of her grandchildren grow up, with only two more to go......

so. I wish you all the best. I hope your skin bounces back like a brand new rubber band. and that you keep all your hair. but if not, it is ok. because you will feel so much better in your body!

and yes, this was a very emotional time for me as well. this whole WLS thing, it's a wild ride. hang on tight and come here for support as you feel the need.

Weight training really does help with the loose skin! I've also been using Bio-Oil on my stomach and upper arms, and it's been helping a bit with the stretch marks. It's pricey, but I managed to get a pack of 2 200ml bottles for £24.99 at costco.

I've been fortunate because I am at goal, and my skin has really bounced back. I think a lot depends on age, skin type, elasticity, etc...so no use worrying until you're a bit farther out and you see how your skin responds. It was a worry of mine, too, but in the end, it was not as bad as I thought it would be.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
