My bypass surgery was Monday and I'm not struggling to get all the fluids down. Granted in not hungry and I'm drinking per my Dr's instructions. Should I be worried that I'm not struggling to get all my fluids down? I know it sounds silly but all I have heard and read said I would have problems getting my liquid (shakes & water) down. Am I stressing over nothing?

I didn't have the 'I'm full' sensation until about 2 weeks after surgery. Of course, I was only drinking liquid then, but could drink it really fast - - until one day when all of sudden I could not eat or drink even the 2 oz. I was supposed to - - so the struggle might come a bit later for you - just be aware of what it is when it comes - and be sure you eat and drink slowly now to practice - otherwise you might be up-chucking the overage of food or liquid - not pretty - or a good thing as - if you are like me - you won't want to go near that food or drink for a very long time!

Don't stress. This is your normal. As someone else said, this might change soon so make sure you are always drinking slowly, eating slowly and really chewing (when you get to real food).

Congrats on your surgery and best of luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
