Puréed food ideas please

Recommended Posts

With blended Soups and mixture of refried Beans and meat, I add chili sauce and Sriracha sauce to enhance the flavors.

I also add Onions, garlic or other spices to brighten the flavor.

I still not happy with eating this texture less food, but at least it has flavor and I know I am allowing the healing to get to regular food on a few more weeks.

Thank you all so so very much! I figured it needed to be bland. I'm a Mexican and Portuguese food person and I like things tasty and spicy. I know the spicy needs to wait. My paperwork showed baby food and watery low sugar oatmeal as suggestions. I'd rather starve! Again, thank you

It doesn't necessarily need to be bland. Just take it slow and see what you tolerate.

I'd rather starve than eat baby food too!

Yeah I haven't blended anything, I just take super small bites and chew really well. Grits are Amazing at this stage!!

I bought the creamy bariatric Soups from the website and they don't seem to be settling well. I'm in the bathroom within minutes

Hi all. I was sleeved on 6/1. I should be starting puréed food at this point but what I have read for suggestions turns my stomach so I'm still on Protein shakes only. The idea of baby food makes me nauseous. I love cottage cheese but if I'm reading correctly, I need to purée it with a liquid? I feel stupid for asking but I'm starting to get sick of the shakes. Help???

I was sleeved on 6/2. I was starting to feel like I needed something more substantial. My step daughter cooked a very flavorful and spicy vegetable Soup. I drank the stock the first couple of days then ended up pureeing the veggies and stock into a nice "baby food" consistency. It was quite yummy.

Today my husband made chicken enchilada Soup and pureed it. Quite satisfying.

The thing I'm having a very difficult time with is the sweetness of the Protein Shakes. Trying to figure out how to make them less sweet.

pureed cooked oatmeal, smooth applesauce, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, and pureed winter squash; try them out and you may need to Water them down with water, broth for flavor, or milk for Protein or almond milk for taste. Yogurt is a good one, too. You can also puree canned foods like green Beans, carrots, tuna, and chicken. The foods that aren’t high in protein (like cream of wheat or oatmeal) you can add unflavored Protein Powder to. Pureed canned beans are good if you can tolerate them; some people can't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
