Question about liquid diet an return to work

Recommended Posts

Well I only had to do liquids for 3 days prior to surgery. I did have a lowcarb diet I had to do for 7 days prior to that though. What got me through it was a lot of whining to the dogs, and the realization that I only had to do it for X amount of time, and any weight I lost during that time was going to stay off, as opposed to other times that I tried to starve myself and nothing happened with the scale ;)

I have a desk job with a bit of flexibility. I took 1 week + 1day off (monday through the following Monday, returning on Tuesday). The remainder of the week that I came back, I worked 5-6 hours instead of 9.

I think time off really depends on what you do though :)

I had controlled but not liquid only 2 wks. B4 surgery. All liquid 2 weeks after.

I took almost 3 weeks off. Even though I have a desk job, I still had pain and excess tiredness at 2 weeks.

The last week I took was really nice for me, and not having to deal with the stress at work while not feeling fully up to speed.

I'm so glad I didn't have to endure the liquid diet pre surgery! I did have a controlled diet and lost 18lbs in the 2 weeks prior. As for time off, I was out a week. I have a desk job and have had a great recovery (physically). Mentally, it was tough going back to work while still on a liquid diet. I'm finally in the 2nd week of pureed foods and it had been much easier!

For Clear Liquids I would get won ton Soup and hot and sour soup. I removed the wonton wrappers and ate the Protein balls. Hot and sour was easy. The tofu is like air. Just chew chew chew I didn't try the mushrooms those are my favs but their are fibrous and it would be extremely difficult to get to a smooth consistency. I used a hand lender to break down the fibers and it was a welcomed treat

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
