Cost of Fills??

Recommended Posts

Hi Brandi,

I was banded by Dr.Ortiz in Mexico and although his fills are only $100, it was much much more here in the States. I live in Florida and I am paying $400 per fill w/out fluoro and $550 w/fluoro. That is on the higher end though--alot of places only charge $150-250. I could fly to TJ but with the plane ticket and travel expenses it would be more than $400 anyways. I am happy with my aftercare, but it definately was a struggle to get it set up. Make sure you research it and have all of that arranged BEFORE your surgery. I had a very hard time finding a good fill doc after being banded in Mexico. Another piece of advice~ I wouldn't go to FillCenterUsa locations. I had a horrible time with them and they aren't trained very well. Good luck to you!!

I had Dr. Sanchez and could never say enough good things about him. He is wonderful and very smart. He's put in over 6600 of these and I had no problems whatsoever. You have a question, you pick up the phone and call him.

I had my first fill, alothough they're free with Dr. Sanchez I didn't want to fly again so soon, I hate going through customs. I went to Dr. Trace Curry who answers alot of questions on here. He is fabulous. Him and his whole staff are so sweet and he does them himself and his nutri. has a band herself. He charged 300.00 yesterday and used fluro, no charge for unfills and 150.00 for each fill after. He only put in 1.5 since I live almost 5 hours each way away and didn't want to over do it but said if it wasn't enough I could come back in 2 weeks for another.

Cudos, for Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Curry in my book.

I went to mexicali for my surgery. It was a very nice hospital and they strive hard to ensure there is no language barrier. All the dr. and nurses know english pretty well. They have free fill for life. The down side is that you have to fly or drive there to get them. As near as my research has shown it will cost me about 300-400 for a fill here in utah. I can fly for 250 round trip so it looks like I will be flying to mexico for my fills. They are so easy to work with that I am not even going to take my husband this time. good luck

Hi, I have only been banded for about 17 days, but will need a fill in another 3-4 weeks. I was banded in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz. If you know of a good doctor that does the fills with fluoro in Houston area, please send me all info, including the price. Thanks

Wild

My doctor, who I love, Dr. Rehnke in Florida, gave one year of free follow ups and fills. After that it is $300 for a fill. I am self pay since neither United Health or Aetna will cover anything to do with any bariatric proceedure. I will pay the $300 when I need it. I justify it by saying look how much I save on Rx's, food, and weightloss products.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
