No where in any of my worksheets or papers given to me by NUT doesn't it mention anything regarding how much fat we should be having a day.. And my NUT is out for the next 2 weeks.. Any help?

My nut papers says good fats, don't recall there being a specific amount

My Nut advise was not to eat anything that the fat was greater than the calories. So to start she said Fat should be 1/2 of the calories or less.

How far out are you? I am 3+ years out and I eat high Protein, high fat, low carb. I avoid fried food, but I don't worry about mayo, butter, real salad dressing, etc. Fat makes the food taste better and keeps me full longer.

As the beginning stages, however, fill your tummy with good quality Protein first, the rest later.

I eat plenty of very high fat foods like Fresh avocado (which you can eat once you get to soft food stage), and bacon (which you can have once you get to solid food stage). I am 9 months out now and probably did not even try bacon until about 3-4 months out. But honestly whenever I have a stall I eat more fat (organic pastured bacon, and organic avocados) and it seems to do the trick. IMHO even saturated fats are not the devil when you do NOT combine them with carbs. That being said Protein first still stands. I wash down my bacon with a Protein Shake that has 30 g of protein. Again this is NOT doable first months out when it's all you can do to get and keep the protein shake down but over time fat is your friend. It is THE best appetite suppressant around.

My surgeon never gave any amounts to count besides Protein and Water. His nut actually laughed when I asked about low fat and calories cause in the beginning you can't possibly eat too much of either as long as you stick with your Protein and Water goals.

At 2 1/2 years, I eat like lipsticklady...high protein, high fat and low carb. Regular mayo, real butter, full fat dairy, and my golden rule is "Bacon goes with everything". Fried food gives me indigestion, though, so that's not on my list of regular things to eat. Except fried pork skin, that seems to sit OK. But of course that ALMOST bacon.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
