Psych Eval....Done! 6-month wait per insurance rule....HELL NO!

Recommended Posts

This is all getting real! Had my psych eval this morning, and honestly...it was interesting, illuminating, and an overall great experience. Really great, and I got the ok.

Then.....even better....my surgeon's office called and said that per my request they checked with my insurance again, and I DO NOT have a 6-months required supervised diet requirement after all (last week the surgeon's office told me I did have a 6 month wait, but I knew that was in conflict with what my insurance administrators had told me 4 times already).

First surgeon's appt and a zillion tests on July 14th, maybe I can hop on the table in August. Fingers and toes crossed on that.

Congratulations! The tests take a little while too, but not six months.

Yes, hopefully not! I work in college admissions, so I really want to get this done and be recovered before application season hits.

Congrats! I've been cleared by the NUT and the Psych and am waiting for my surgery consult on June 23.

I'm finishing up my tests next week and hopefully I'll have my revision to RNY in August. I'm going out of the country for the month of July so I've been busy this month getting everything done. It's much easier this time then the first time around. I guess because I've been down this road before and it's all familiar. I hope you all get surgery dates soon. The first week is rough but after that it gets easier every day. Follow the diet and learn the new recipes because if you go back to the old way of eating you will certainly regain. Good luck everyone and happy losing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
