Hi Jocelyn...

Fellow Puertorican here, but in Seattle, WA... Good question.. I just wanted to say hi and give you my support. I was banded about 3 months ago and it was the best decision I ever made. Was just down there for a family matter 2 weeks ago. I will do some searching as well and see if I find anything as well. I highly reccomend you find someone and check them out before your surgery...

GOOD luck and keep in touch. Nice to find a fellow Page Ranking bandmate...

Hi...There is a surgeon in PR: Dr. Rafael A. Iglesias in Guaynabo, PR. You can do a search in the American Society for Bariatric Surgery: www.asbs.org and you will find 3 surgeon in PR but only Dr. Iglesias does Lap Band. I'm considering doing my Lap Band in Mexico because my insurance won't cover it but Dr. Iglesias doesn't work with outside patients...Don't know what to do...In Mexico is less expensive there is also a Dr. in Dominican Republic. You can contact me at acuariojrg@hotmail.com

found it through google...

Hola,

I will be moving to Ponce, PR in a few months. How close is Cayey to Ponce? I copied the phone number down. I am getting my surgery this month or early next (no date yet). I will have to return to Seattle to sell our home and then we are off to PR after that. I am so excited for both the surgery and the move. I won't be able to enjoy near as much of that wonderful Puerto Rican food, but I would rather be enjoying the salsa and wearing small clothes. Someone in weight watchers once said "No food tastes as good as thin feels!"

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
