After my 4 required appointments with the NUT, my paperwork was submitted on May 25th. Today I got a letter from BCBS stating I will hear something within the next 15 days. :-(. I've been with BCBS since 1993... Same Federal plan

Oh, man, I know the frustration :( I put in to get a consult with my previous surgeon (had lapband and had it removed), and it took them a month to even review the damn thing. We put it in at the end of April and I didn't get a response until May 27th. Thankfully I got ahold of the coordinator beforehand and she scheduled me right away for the consult... but I'm not looking forward to the wait to get a response on surgery. I'd give them a call within 7 days and see if there's any info in the system yet.

I am on Federal BCBS also. My advice is to call every other day and find out if it was approved. I found out 5 days after submission of my paperwork that I was approved. I called my clinic and my surgery was scheduled that day.

I have BCBS and found out within 5 days once the paperwork was submitted that I was approved. The day I found out my surgery was set up immediately. I would call BCBS and also talk to you patient coordinator at the clinic.

Hope everything works out for you!

Hello all, I have been approved and received all of my next dates for Gallbladder test, Endo, Pre-op, surgery date, and 1st Post-op. I started this process in February 4th (2016) and my surgery is August 8th (2016). Thats still right at 2-months away, but I'm praying the time goes fast! I am not nervous, I am not doubting, I am ready for my life to change for the BEST!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
