Hi guys! I'm just checking in. I had surgery on 7/7 and am feeling the best I have felt in the last couple of years. The weight is coming off, I'm getting nice bursts of energy and my skin is glowing.

I'm on soft foods and am supposed to try "regular" foods this week. Not sure what I'll end up trying for regular first. I've been eating mostly dairy, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, but have tried all kinds of fish, chicken breast, veal, cheeseburger and no problems so far. I just feel full right around the 2 oz in supposed to eat on my plan. I was off shakes for a few days while traveling but am now going back on as its really hard to get enough Protein from food alone in such small amounts.

Best wishes to all the other July sleevers!

Wow you are doing great! I just started regular foods. I have not had a problem with anything. My weight stalled a little but it's coming off now. What is your average calorie/protein/ carbs each Day?

@@Bee healthy

I'm averaging 7-800 calories/day. 60-80 grams of Protein and under 30 carbs.

What regular foods did you try? I've been sticking with deli turkey because I had it in the house. Amazing how little money I spend on food now!

Hello all, I was sleeved on 7-11-16. I'm 3 weeks, 3 days out. Everything is a challenge for me. I struggle to get in 20 grams of Protein a day and about 8 ounces of Water. SF Popsicles are the only thing that feels good to eat. I feel ok the pain is gone! Still have occasional gas pain but its not do bad. I just wish I can get my protien and liquids down. Anyone have any suggestions??

Why can't you drink anything? Have you talked to your surgeon? This is dangerously low protein and fluids.

I'm 2.5 weeks out. My head hasn't caught up with my stomach yet. Although it's easy to refrain from eating outside my plan, I still like the smells of food and have head hunger. Sometimes I think about food and when it finally is time to eat my 60gm of Protein its over in a couple of spoon fulls. I know it'll get easier, at the moment it's odd not being able to enjoy a meal. I'm trying to slow down purely to get to have a dinner. Have overeaten twice by 1-2 teaspoons which made me sick. Enjoy Protein Shakes with 1/2 a frozen banana as it's not gone in the blink of an eye.

Am wondering how long my hunger hormone will be gone as it's SO much easier not being hungry!!

Am getting in my Water, am trying to get in more as I'm getting the odd head rush when standing up after sitting down for awhile (which by other posts seems to happen for a bit after surgery). And yes, I miss being able to guzzle heaps of Water to catch-up too!

Just checking in, I'll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I've also hit the dreaded stall, the scale hasn't moved for a week now! It's funny because I can't fathom how that's possible with the little amount I'm eating, plus walking/swimming daily. I know it'll start moving again, just have to be patient! Eating and getting my liquids is so much easier now, also my incision pain is completely gone. How's everyone else doing?

I'm a month out! I feel the best I've felt in the last few years. The scale feels meaningless to me, my newfound energy is everything.

I'm having a hard time getting in all my fluids. I think I'm in the stall. I'm only dropping like a pound a week. It's frustrating. I was sleeved 7/13.

@@chai20 Had surgery 7/12. Felt pretty bad for a week or so. Slowly started feeling better. Still not at my suggested stage (I'm supposed to be on soft food but I'm pureed for now cause its easier). Today I feel better than I have in a long while. Over 20 pounds off so far. My energy level is still not where I would like it to be and bending over hurts at times, but I'm feeling really good about this. Went to the grocery store to get some La Madeline Tomato Basil Soup. It feels like a treat after all the Protein Drinks. I'm not really missing food. I have missed so many things I used to like to do for so many years and I finally feel like I will get to do all those physical things again soon, so I'm feeling like its a very good trade off. Its super hot here in Central Texas so trying to go out and run errands or go to the store still drains me. I sweat a lot and I'm challenged to drink as much as I need to. I always drank a lot of Water before, but I could down a bottle of Water in about 5 minutes in the past. As the weather changes (won't for a couple months still), I'll probably have more energy when I head out of the house. Keep in mind, for those who are newly post-op, I felt like death warmed over for over a week and had one day where I thought maybe I had a pulmonary embolism (false alarm), but overall (with carefully following the recommendations on how to eat and when to eat) I am getting better every day. I thought I would bounce back quicker from this surgery, like many others have expressed. But I realized that I need to rest as much as necessary so that I can heal well. I'm giving myself a chance to progress through the stages and master the eating habits so that I feel the best I can as soon as possible. It does get better. Much better.

Thank you so very much for your informative reply. I'm sure most would agree that a few weeks of varying levels of discomfort out weighs the alternative.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
