Good luck to everyone having surgery today! I still can't believe it's been a week already. Feeling great, no pain, just a little soreness at my incisions. Haven't thrown up anything yet and on mushies which I am tolerating well so far! How's everyone else doing?

Hi there! I was same day as you. Also doing very well. Swallowing so much easier, slept on side yesterday, also started mushies today, have not yet thrown up! Sounds like we're both doing pretty well.

The one thing is that I will probably miss my liquid target today. Given the no drinking before and after eating I fell behind on my first day of mushies. Will try harder tomorrow!

I'm having trouble with my Water intake today too. It was high 90s here and I just had no desire to drink, but tomorrow I'll be back at it. Today was also hard for me because my 2 year old daughter is finally home from my parents. But boy did I forget how much work she is! I am exhausted and I took a two hour nap with her this afternoon! Not picking her up is proving to be a huge challenge, but I'm trying!! And man did she accidently hit me in my incisions several times today (i went over a hundred times she needs to be careful of mommies booboo's, but she is 2 after all..lol) and boy they are sore this evening, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit easier! Glad to hear you are doing well too!

Went in for my last weigh in this morning , weight was 260 from 345 my highest. I don't think people will expect weight loss surgery because once again everybody knew I was dieting and going to the gym for awhile now. Anyway surgery on tomorrow, they've changed my surgery time three times, so hopefully this time they gave me sticks. Not nervous as of right now, this morning I woke up in a panic attack. I'm just lying in bed right now cause that magnesium citrate has me feeling ugh, that's some horrible stuff! Congrats to my July sleevers, much love to the ones on tomorrow as well, and I can't wait to hear from all the 26ers soon!P.s. I smelled pizza in the car today and I know for a fact there was no pizza. The mind plays serious tricks on you when you can't eat.

This is my last night as this person. Surgery is in the morning. I'm not nervous about the surgery, but I am thinking a lot about how my new life will be. Good luck tomorrow my fellow 27s!

Just a little update, I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow. Kinda excited to see how I'm doing. In terms of my recovery I'm 10 days post op, most of my pain is completely gone, eating well on mushies, was really nauseated yesterday but have not thrown up at all yet. I was really constipated, but today have had a few boughts of diarrhea, which believe it or not actually made me feel a lot better, just have to make sure I drink some extra Water because of it. A few of my steri strips fell off ( but I have this awful glue residue, any ideas how to get it off?)but the incisions look great, seem to be healing well. How's everyone else doing?

Well i am 1 day post op and i feel pretty darn good. I didnt ask for pain meds a second ago for the pain but i asked for pain meds for my headache. Lol

Here is my surgery story.

I had the lapband in 2007 and did great with it at first. Then the last two years most everythi ng i would eat or drink would start coming up. Started having severe pain in my esophagus and started throwing up blood. An endoscopy revealed that i had a class c esophageal erosion. The band had to come out

Met with surgeon and determined the bnd would come out and he would revise to sleeve!!!! Scheduled my op for july 26 yesterday.

Had to be at the hospital at 5 am for an 8 am surgery. Prep for surger i got a patch for nausea to help with any nausea from meds. Then they gave me a shot in my tummy To help with possible clots. Met with sirgeon and andsthesiologist to discuss surgery. Then they gave me versed before wheeling me back to surg. Best "margarita" ever. Then i was totally worry free. I was still awake in or. They hooked me up with all the electrodes and the anesthesiologist said ok its nap time im putting u to sleep. I said just please make sure i wake up. Then make sure i wake up sleeved!!!!! I was so worried there would b such a mess in my body that wiuld have to hold off on the sleeve.

Next thing i knew theybwere waking me up. Zero pain. I just said yayy im alive and ong was i sleeved??? They said u sire were. Then my main concern was going to peepee. I had to go really bad. Surgery took an hour and a half and i was in my own room by 11. They immediately got me to the pot. Was sore but not bad pain.

No gas pains yet either. I wone up with a binder on which feels great. Especially when i get up to walk or go to the bathroom. Ive probabky walked about 6 laps. Blood pressure has been a little low but they said its expcted because of the pain meds

No fever. Nurses are amazing.

Getting woken up so often is for the birds tho. Other than that ive been sleeping a lot. sleep with my binder on and the pumps on my legs to prohibit clots.

I had a popsicle and some sips of broth and sips of Water. Did not hurt when first going down but i was apprehensive at first. I did take a swig too large and it was uncomfortable but not painful. Have only drank half bottle of Water. But staying hydrated thru iv for now

They did my barium swallow this mirning to check for leaks and NO LEAKS. Yayyyyyyy. I feel so so much better without the band in i can already tell a big difference. I have 6 incisions. Some are rather large but im ok with that. Ill attach a pic which shows three i think. Three large incisions mid tummy and the other smaller ones are up under breasts. It was all a success and very pleasant. So happy to be on the loser bench.

Fyi BIOTINE mouth rinse helps so so much with dry mouth. So get that for sure.

Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!! Here is a pic of my incisions. So excited to begin my healthier happy life!!!!!!!

My clinic called me at 9am today to confirm my surgery details for tomorrow. I was super excited to hear it would be at 11am so I could sleep in a little. Just as I got done telling my parent's about "not being a morning person...so glad it's not at 6am"....I go to my car with a voice mail that says...

"Your surgery time has changed. You will need to be at the center at 6am. Haha...I guess I spoke too soon.

So excited to take the next steps. Had an adjustment today and a massage so my body is calm and my mind is centered for the morning. Hope everyone did well today or is healing from previous. Best Wishes to everyone going in on 7/28.

Meow.

Your story sounds very similar to mine except for the esophageal erosion. I didn't have that. My band was either too loose or too tight. But I was revised on July 22nd. What I find interesting is that your incisions go up and down your torso. Mine are in a crooked line across my abdomen with a drainage tube on my left hip. I didn't have much pain either except for a horrible unrelenting headache. I figured out later it was caffeine withdrawals. Congrats on your sleeve!!

I'm scheduled for 7 am EST. I have to be at the hospital at 5am. We live 2 hours away so we will be leaving at 3:30. I'm so glad my wonderful husband will be driving me. I'm also glad to be going in early, (I'm first) so I won't have time to wait around and get nervous.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
