angelb429 3 Posted June 7, 2016 Sleeved 5/12. Am just starting soft foods. All of a sudden I am nauseas all day... actually throw up upon waking AND when I do eat something it sits like a lump in my stomach for hours. I feel like my stomach wants food but then it isn't digesting it? ?? Am I nuts? Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted June 7, 2016 how are your bathroom habits going? is everything normal in regards to that? I think I'd be calling my doctor. something could be preventing food from moving through in a normal fashion.
angelb429 3 Posted June 7, 2016 Bathroom habits are NOT happening. I saw Dr last week and explained the Protein shakes were coming right back up (tried several brands ). He suggested I move up to pureed and eat slowly.... Spoke to nutritionist today. She said I am def not getting enough nourishment or Fluid so im going back to Dr tomorrow. Just wondered if anyone else had a similar situation. Hubby had the surgery 2 years ago and it all went so smoothly for him.... carlissa_RN 62 Posted June 7, 2016 I was sleeved 5/27 and still no bowel movement, except for 3-5 loose stools that I had the first week, other than that nothing! I am moving to purée soft foods tomorrow after my follow up with MD tomorrow. I haven't had any solids, except 2 yogurts so I'm not that worried, yet! Christinamo7 4,042 Posted June 8, 2016 Constipation could certainly cause your symptoms. I hope you've gotten some help with all of this.
ButterflySeoul 98 Posted June 8, 2016 You can take a stool softener-- omg not going for 12 days, that's not good. The info they sent me home from the hospital with said that if I didn't have any "movement" within 3 days I think it was, that I should use a stool softener. I was in agony just not going for 2 days after surgery-- I can't imagine how uncomfortable and how much pain I would have been in waiting 12 days for it. I bet you're feeling better! Get something to keep on hand, you'll need it!
angelb429 3 Posted June 8, 2016 Update : doc says I have gastritis and reflux. I was taking Prilosec but NOT opening capsules. They told me in hospital they were small enough and in fact have then to me to take whole. So basically I've been pissing my pouch off for 3 weeks, which is why I'm tolerating less... Esoler 16 Posted June 9, 2016 I was taking benefiber in my Water 3 days post-op as per my Nut advise.
BigTink2LilTink 723 Posted June 9, 2016 I would suggest to you look into some Fiber such as benefiber and metimucil. I started taking Metimucil a week after surgery and stayed on it consistently for about 6 months (taking it daily in the am), before I started to wean myself off of it. Now I take it about once or twice a month if I feel like I haven't been consistent with bowel movements.
Pebbles0000 4 Posted June 9, 2016 I also had some issues with Constipation after surgery on April 11th, however what I do now is make sure I am getting all of my Water in, eat more vegetables, and when needed I take a stool softener. I also have a little discomfort with digestion, and so what I do about that is make sure I am only eating the 3 ounces per meal, and also I eat slower. Sometimes I get so hungry that I eat too fast and that is when I feel the discomfort. I am starting to learn what digests good, and what doesn't. I have eaten out twice this week, once at Ruby Tuesday and the other at OCharley's. At Ruby Tuesday, I had grilled chicken, grilled asparagus, and mashed potatoes. I ate a small portion and took the rest home. At OCharley's, I ate grilled salmon, grilled asparagus, and a backed potato. I was satisfied, and my system accepted both meals at these restaurants. Both restaurants have special menus for gluten free, allergies, etc. I am so excited about the fact that I can still order healthy and tolerate the food at these two places, because I love these restaurants. I hope this is helpful to someone. Oh, one more thing, also what has been helpful to me is ordering the right appliances to cook my food. I have an air fryer that I can cook chicken in, a steamer that I use for vegetables and salmon, and a Wolfgang Puck pressure oven for other various meals.
