Hi All!

I recently got back the results of my pre-op test. I quit smoking (actual cigarettes) and started vaping slightly over a year ago. I got myself down to 2 to 3 mg of nicotine when I did my pre-op testing. Oblivously I tested positive for nicotine, however, since I got back my testing results I have quit. It has been fairly easy and I am having no withdrawals, which I credit to weaning myself of nicotine.

Anyways, the results of my urine test were (her answers to my question are in red):

Is there any way to know what my nicotine level was (I have been stepping down my use and was currently on the lowest level of nicotine before the next step of quitting)? There are 2 parts of the urine test. Your 1st level was 185 (needs to be below 17) and your 2nd level was 599 (needs to be under 20).

How long do I need to wait to re-test after quitting for nicotine to be completely out of my system? I have the order to get my lab test re-done. I was trying to find out online but I could not get an exact answer. Will a week be long enough to get my levels low enough or should I wait longer?

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply!

This is what I found online:

When smoking only occasionally or you have a limited nicotine intake, the nicotine should be cleared out in 3 to 4 days. If you are a regular smoker, it may take 1-2 weeks; if you are a long time heavy smoker, it may take more than 20 days for a clean urinalysis test.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
