Pink Ninja 67 Posted June 7, 2016 I had blood work and an ekg with my PCP. My blood work came back fairly normal with the exception of my sugar, which helped my PCP write my recommendation letter for my insurance approval. The most alarming was my Vitamin D level, it was so low she wrote me a prescription for it. My paperwork was just submitted to my insurance by my surgeons office. I don't have approval or a surgery date yet but I'm wondering if my Vitamin D deficiency would affect my surgery date? Read2016 658 Posted June 7, 2016 I've had low Vitamin D in the past, it comes up reasonable quick when you on the weekly dose... I don't see how it would prevent you getting the surgery "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted June 7, 2016 My surgeon had everyone start taking D3 from the beginning. Apparently, Vitamin D deficiency is epidemic.

MicheleLeilani 8 Posted June 7, 2016 My Vitamin D level was less than 4, virtually undetectable according to my doctor. He gave me a script and has me taking twice the dose for the first month and then a single dose thereafter.
pammieanne 269 Posted June 7, 2016 I think you'll find a large amount of WLS candidates are going to have low Vitamin D levels... being overweight somehow makes us more susceptible to this. It didn't affect my surgery date
