Read2016 658 Posted June 7, 2016 I think it depends on your current health... My surgeon requires an upper GI X-ray series... I just saw my primary care for the medical clearance, she gave me an EKG and will do blood work closer to the date... There may be more that I'm not aware "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein
locjewel 14 Posted June 7, 2016 Other than being obese im healthy so I've only needed blood work and an EGD. But I think it really depends on your medical history. My husband has to get a sleep study done since he snores really bad and does not wake up well rested. UsernameTaken 283 Posted June 7, 2016 I has to get cleared by pulmonologist ( do breathing test to check my lungs and if he believes I may have sleep apnea he would have me do sleep study, but i didn't need to), I had to get pre op clearance from my primary care, ekg, upper GI, chest x Ray, blood work. mrsocheltree 8 Posted June 7, 2016 It depends on your surgeon and health insurance. I had an EKG, pulmonary tests (various breathing tests... lots of inhaling and exhaling), breathing into a bag to check for H. pylori bacteria in stomach and upper intestines, upper GI tests (swallowing barium while in various positions while getting x-rayed), blood work to check for anything abnormal, and a urine test for abnormalities and nicotine. That's what mine involved. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
LibrarianBecky 91 Posted June 7, 2016 In addition to tests mentioned above, my insurance required a sleep study and an echocardiogram. Plus follow up testing (trains-esophageal Echo and stress test) when I had abnormal results on keg and Echo.
