canadian_girl 7 Posted June 6, 2016 I would love to hear from anyone who has used this surgeon. I am thinking of going with him for vsg because he has in-house financing and would like to hear the good, the bad, and the hopefully non-existent ugly lol Thanks! Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted June 6, 2016 I don't usually comment on specific surgeons that operate in Mexico. I feel that it's my duty to share what I uncovered about Dr. Quinones, while looking for surgeons to partner with for BariatricPal TeamMX. I did a lengthy investigation and found that he uses expired Staplers (see attached invoices) He also uses staples made in china and assembled in Tijuana! Besides those two issues.... - He's had MANY twisted sleeves (+8 in 2 1/12 years that I'm aware of). - He's left sponges in patients. - Up to 4 patients and companions share 1 bathroom. - He's had a patient or two post-op with a bad staph infection. The list goes on.....I'd stay as far away from him as possible! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted June 7, 2016 I think my concern with Dr. Quinones, back when I was researching surgeons in summer 2014, was that I saw a YouTube video of him performing surgery and neither he nor any of the staff in the OR were wearing surgical masks. gina171 626 Posted June 8, 2016 (edited) All of the above invoices and both comments are terrifying. Expired supplies, I never even thought of that as a possibility. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited June 8, 2016 by gina171
aster 4 Posted June 17, 2016 Well, I had scheduled with him for August, but now I think I should cancel. Good thing there was no deposit required.

All staples have an expiration date. They have a much higher chance of misfiring if they're expired.
