Delaware 0 Posted August 17, 2007 I am currently in the information gathering stage about Lap Band. What is the purpose of the pre-op diet? I have read in the posts something about the liver. Please elaborate...
TexGal 0 Posted August 17, 2007 The purpose of this would be so that it shrinks the fat around your liver, so that it is easier for them during surgery when they have to work near it. Also the purpose of some pre-op diets is so that the dr. can see that you are really serious about wanting to lose weight. Good luck to you and keep us posted. p.s. I had to do a pre-op diet for the insurance, in order for them to pay for it.
Delaware 0 Posted August 17, 2007 I have to do a pre op diet of 6 months with my insurance too. Why? Is it to proove something? If I do really good and say loose 30 lbs then I dont need the surgery or or if I do really good then I am disciplined enough for the surgery?
claramae 0 Posted August 17, 2007 They want to the liver to get rid of the fat and fatty tissue. They said in the seminar that the dr. has to move the liver just a little, or lift it up, something like that and if it is too big, he cannot do it. Good luck. I will be banded on August
