I went zip lining for the first time on Saturday. It's another goal item because I previously weighed too much to go. AND since they weigh you as they put the gear on you, I saw that I weigh less then my super skinny guy friend that was doing it with me. Probably won't ever go again, turns out it was a lot of work and I wasn't good at it so I finished the last half of the course tandem with the cute 22 year old guide.

Oh, I am so looking forward to trying this!!

So what was there to do that made you not good at it? I'm curious, so that when I go I'll know what to look out for ;)

And Congratulations on your NSV, AND being lighter than your super skinny guy friend!!!!!!!

I wasn't able to properly brake myself (you use a gloved hand and push down on the wire behind the pulley thing) and keep myself from spinning by holding the anchor at the pulley thing. After I lost control on the longest and fastest line, the guide decided I should tandem to him on the rest of the course. When I came in to stop I ended up with a wire burn and huge bruise at the top of my neck from the guide stopping me. The irony is it's bony up there now and wasn't when I weighed more. It was fun when I was tandem because all I had to do was hold on and guide did everything else. :D

Alrighty then! I guess I'll need to actually work... they probably frown upon you just free-flying?!

I have always wanted to zip-line but was too heavy. I had no idea that skills were involved haha.I thought we just sat there and zoomed down the line enjoying the view. I am still 220 so I may need to keep losing, but it's on the radar at least now. We are going on a Norwegian cruise and one of the excursions offers zip-lining in Belize City. I'm so happy you got to go and happy you got to achieve a goal. It's the best feeling.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
