For the ladies - bra advise!

Recommended Posts

Finishing up my requirements next week, shooting for a July date for my surgery, and I'm stressing about something silly...BRAS! I'm a chesty gal (G cup) and I've heard a few horror stories about underwire rubbing incision spots immediately after surgery. Ouch! Going without a bra would no doubt be uncomfortable, especially if my drain tube is high. Anyone have advice on finding soft, wire free bras for bigger girls? Thanks in advance!

Ugh, I wish I had boobs to have this problem! LOL! Despite what the clothes manufacturers think, not all big girls have boobs. ☹️. But enough of my whining! LOL! Would a sports bra be an option? That's my plan.

I ordered sports bras from Old Navy website. They have larger sizes and generally on sale.

The wire free from LB are great and comfortable. Those are the only ones I wear, plus they come in lots of colors

I had a breast reduction about 3 years ago went from a size G to small D. I always had to order bras from bravissimo.com which is based in the UK. But they have the most options for larger breasts! It seems more UK based companies have bigger sizes than here in the states...

Awesome, thanks for all the info, girls! Anyone have experience using an over-the-head sports bra after surgery? Wondering if it'll be hard to raise arms up and wiggle the thing on due to soreness...

VS has some great sports bras that zip in the front if you're worried about slipping it over your head.

I alway about thing like that too. I hate me boobs to be loose and giggle. Lane Bryant has great soft cotton bra with no wire. They are like a leisure bra. I just picked up a few for after surgery. Good luck

Oh my, I haven't really thought any that too. Is this also the case with the Bypass? I can't imagine wearing a bra without a wire.

Something I heard just last weekend, in a group I was attending. Is that Victoria Secret will take back a bra as long as you have your receipt

Now the lady was telling us that she went to be sized at VS and 3 weeks later she went back to get resized and then is when they told her as long as you have your receipt they will take it back. I'm going to guess that they expect you to purchase another one. It might be worth checking out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
