You can access your super to pay for that.. you need to have one form filled out by your GP and the other by your surgeon. They must say on the form that it is life threatening.. eg diabetes etc.

Then you apply through human services... they review it and send you a letter saying yes.. then you send the letter to your super fund.. and they transfer it to your account. .. its pretty simple actually

Good luck @@mikaylag

And hello from an ex-Sydney person, currently on the Gold Coast.

My out of pocket expenses were $5,000 (with the top cover BUPA PHI)

No regrets, almost 3 months post op soon.

Cheers,

Margo

Hi Mickaylag, quotes seem all about the same, I paid $6000 out of pocket and my private healty kicked in about $10,000, so we are all in the same ball park. Good for you to be working so hard for something you want. I am 10 weeks post op now and feeli g good. I get hungry but not real hungry. I eat aboout a quarter of what i used to. I have had no complications and i am much older than you. Had a couple of wines also. Stick to your doctors instructions to the T and you will be alright. The first 2 weeks are challenging but not too bad. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
