WitchySar 244 Posted June 5, 2016 Hi all. I'm brand new here and brand new to the whole surgery thing too. I have a BMI of about 60 and also have high blood pressure. I haven't yet spoken to my primary about weight loss surgery but I know she'll agree. I am just having a hard time finding out if it's even worth it. There is zero chance I can self pay and I have medicaid in Colorado. Does anyone here know for sure if Colorado Medicaid covers bariatric surgery? If so, any chance someone knows the procedure they require? Thanks.
WitchySar 244 Posted June 6, 2016 I think I've found the medicaid list of requirements and it looks like I shouldn't have a problem. I'd still love to hear from anyone in Colorado that has used medicaid for the surgery. Is getting the approval a long process or, as long as you follow the requirements, is it easy? tahunte 15 Posted June 22, 2017 The easiest way is through the Kaiser/Medicaid program. They seem to really have their ducks in a row. My wife was going to an independent office in Parker, Colorado and ended up switching to the Kaiser plan with me because they pretty much handle everything for you and make sure your appointments are on time and you have everything you need. The private practice almost set her back to 4 months because they had not communicated clearly with her what she needed to do with paperwork and requirements of Medicaid. You also can't miss even one appointment or you have to start the 6 month process over again.Sent from my LGLS992 using BariatricPal mobile app
