LindaLena 18 Posted June 5, 2016 I've never officially been diagnosed with IBS but it does run in my family and I experience the same issues that my (brother/sister have been) siblings do and my mom used to. Will this have any affect on my surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Epo-VSG 3 Posted June 5, 2016 Same here. I was never diagnosed but my sister and mom have problems... I don't think it would prevent you from having the surgery. I didn't realize it until post-op (4.5 weeks now), but I never have stomach aches or emergency bathroom stops anymore. It could have something to do with going gluten free (post-op diet is effectively that) but even eggs don't bother me like they used to.
MollyF22 62 Posted June 5, 2016 I have ibs and it doesn't affect the surgery at all. I had surgery Feb 12th and it actually has helped. I am still sensitive to milk but I've only had like 3 episodes of ibs symptoms. I don't even really take my medicine anymore. It's been nice.
