BJames42613 41 Posted June 5, 2016 Last night, as a treat to my kids who both made A Honor Roll, I ordered pizza and a movie for them... I've been so good about resisting my natural urges to just eat whatever (I'm much more attentive to what I put in my body now). As my boys dug in and enjoyed their ooey-gooey pizza, I had to excuse myself to the bathroom. I closed the door and cried because I couldn't have any pizza, and to me that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever done. I laugh about it now, but I was truly heartbroken last night. lol So, what's your most ridiculous post-op overreaction? Anyone else ever cry over Pizza :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

VEGAN ME 117 Posted June 5, 2016 I am scheduled for surgery on the 6th and I have been afraid to mow my lawn because what if I step in a hole and break my leg and then I cant have surgery lol
AvaFern 3,516 Posted June 5, 2016 I'm sure most of us have cried over not being able to eat something- your reaction is totally normal. Also, the important part is that you didn't eat the pizza! Offhand, I think I may have done some crying about chocolate cake that I couldn't eat on my birthday the first year and there may have been 2-3 other times where I really wanted to enjoy something that my stomach wouldn't tolerate and I ended up sick and crying because I couldn't eat like a normal person. I'm not sure if this helps at all, but I'm 3 months short of 3 years post-op and I don't cry over food anymore. I haven't had any sweets since January and it wasn't because I gave them up, I just have no real interest in eating them. I haven't had pizza in probably 2 years, not because I'm not allowed to eat it but just because I don't really care about it anymore. My friend made dinner tonight and sent me a picture. It was a decently healthy meal of steak, green Beans, and potatoes, and while I thought, hey that looks pretty good, unlike before I had no real urge to go make myself anything. Being thin and fitting into my clothing matters more to me than food. Also I was lucky in that I ended up with a stomach that hates oil, grease, butter, fat, and some forms of dairy, so after about a year of barfing all the time, I finally just stopped having any interest in eating junk. Also, after surgery you are naturally more emotional. I cried because I thought I had ruined my life...turns out everything ended up being just fine.
debd80 41 Posted June 5, 2016 Totally did. We were on our way to costco for my Protein powder and my husband says "I think I'll just pick up a pizza for me and the kids for dinner." I started bawling. costco pizza is my fav. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted June 5, 2016 I was walking through the food court the other day and there was such a variety of food... i saw this one dude scoffing down his noodles and i had a bit of a moment... thinking i will never be able to do that again... i did get quite emotional about it... I kept looking around thinking that i wish i was one of those people who can enjoy food without it going straight to their hips. I just look at food and gain 10 pounds! I then snapped myself out of it and reminded myself that this dude might be enjoying his noodles, but i am in the process of extending my life... and that i will one day be able to have a little bit of noodles if i lose and maintain

KristenVSG2014 1,872 Posted June 5, 2016 Yep. I had my surgery in Tijuana and recovered at my in-laws home in Los Angeles. My husband ate all his favorite things in front of me while I was stuck on liquids. I cried a lot the first week. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App It's too early for me for grease and carbs in that quantity... I have friends that have had the sleeve and they're fine with eating pizza, and I have sleeved friends that have completely sworn off foods like that. It's up to you as an individual to make that decision. I ended up making a crustless pizza (Canadian bacon on the bottom, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pineapple). LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 5, 2016 I've never cried over food. Seriously. I figured I have eaten enough food in my forty years for at least 3 "normal" people.I did get real bitchy, though. Tired, cranky, I took things personally that I should not have, a total emotional roller coaster for a few months. It's hormonal. It's normal. It's crappy but it's worth it. dmmjtj 15 Posted June 5, 2016 I order pizza for my kids every week. Have picked off a couple pieces of chicken or pepperoni. Totally full and very happy I'm not eating 3 slices as I would have before surgery.
tobysgirl 58 Posted June 5, 2016 My craziest post--op reaction was that I actually ordered the pizza. Had one bite and put the rest in the freezer. I find myself still ordering quantities of food I can never eat and then hoarding it or giving it away. It's really crazy because I can never finish the leftovers. And my freezer is stuffed with leftovers I can barely identify. My dog is super happy though with his new menu.
Sophie74656 1,572 Posted June 5, 2016 well it depend on how far out you are. I eat pizza. I can eat maybe 3/4 of a slice but it is very satisfying
