Hi I am five weeks out from surgery and only lost 18 pounds. I eat 600calories a day walk and don't loos feel like crying I will never loos the Waite

What was your starting weight? 18 pounds could be great relative to how much you have to lose?

What is your Protein target? 600 calories does not seem like enough, but again, it is relative to your Protein target. Mine is 100 grams so 600 calories is extremely low.

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting at least 64 oz of Fluid and reaching your protein target every day.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

And, Embrace the Stall

Go slow, it's better because you'll end up with less loose skin keep walking and maybe go up to 800 calories a day. When I was at 600 calories a day my blood pressure was dangerously low, be careful don't hurt yourself. I was sleeved on March 23rd and have lost 36lbs. At times I've gotten up to 1000 calories a day. I stay between 900 & 1000.

Hi - I had my surgery in March and after a few weeks I hit a plateau and posted a very similar complaint. I thought I had gone and wasted $10,000 that I didn't have. I am now 2.5 months post opt. I thought I would have lost more by now but I have lost 34 lbs. When I posted about my weight being stuck, everyone said the same thing - ignore the scale and keep on keeping on. They were right. So keep on keeping on and expect plateau's along the way. They don't last.

Try and think of it the other way around- if you'd gained 18 pounds in just a little over a month, that'd be pretty terrible, right? Why? Because that's a LOT of weight in a short time.

But it's all good, because you lost it. :)

I'm so glad you posted this. I'm three weeks postop and feel the same way. However logically I know that there is no way that I would be gaining weight with as little as I am consuming. So reading through the replies it makes sense that your body is healing. Our bodies need to adjust to this new lifestyle. Stay positive, that is what I've been trying to do. I know I'm doing all the right things, the results will happen eventually.

Have an awesome day! We can do this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
