Sleeved April 27th and still can't eat. Help!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I need some help. I haven't been able to keep anything down for a few weeks now and was recently hospitalized for dehydration. I try to get my liquids in as much as possible but because I'm constantly vomiting nothing seems to stay. I'm really getting worried. As much as I also try to get my Protein in I can only manage a couple sips a day. I was put on anti nausea medicine but it doesn't seem to help.

I get tired after minimal activity and need to sleep all of the time. I thought my Multivitamins and B12 was supposed to help combat that. Though I've lost 40 lbs I'm still kind of regretting this surgery. I feel like this isn't normal. Does anyone have any advice? I'm really at a loss here.

yes, my advice is to talk to your doctor

I have. He told me to go back on liquids and see if it gets better.

This is not normal and you need to be seen ASAP.

I saw my general practitioner today and she's sending me to my GI

I just need some advice on how to keep some sort of liquid down. I don't want to go back to the hospital. Has anyone else gone through something similar?

while the best advise should come from your surgeon, maybe space sipping Protein shake one sip every 5 min or so?

get some gatorade it will help with dehydration better than Water and go see your surgeon. Call their office and tell them what is going on.

I had this problem as well. It freaked me out and I was in and out of my doctors office. They said my pylori was narrow and it was a strain for things to get by it. I had to have a dilation for me to finally be able to eat and drink without the nausea and regurgitation feeling

It's when they put you under and balloon your opening to stretch it. I had to have it done. I was unable to get any broth or even Water after a while. I was waking up with stomach acid in my mouth every day. It was horrible. I was hospitalized for malnutrition. It made me regret everything until the dilarion, it really helped. I'm on the mend

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
