VSG or C-section - Which was a harder recovery?

Recommended Posts

I had a c-section with my daughter and I'm wondering how the recovery of that compares to having the VSG? Has anyone here had both?

hands down the c-section was more difficult. but I got an adorable baby boy and I don't think he would have survived otherwise, so he was worth it.

of all the surgeries I have had the VGS was the second easiest, with getting my tubes tied being the easiest.

VSG is definitely much easier than having a C-section. The only thing that really bothered me was my drain tube, other than that everything was fine.

C Section much worse than VSG. VSG was a piece of cake.

well I haven't had a c section but I have had the sleeve. I can only imagine that the c section would be a lot worse, it's a bigger incision, they stretch and pull it open and pull a human being out of it. The sleeve only gives you a couple small punctures that usually don't even need stitches (mine didn't).

My recoveries were similar and I wouldn't say one was worse than the other. The thing that made vsg easier was it didn't come with a lack of sleep like having a new born baby. The thing that is interesting about pain and surgery recoveries is that very shortly after you are feeling better you forget how bad it was. The problem I had with vsg was an internal stitch that made bending down difficult. I couldn't put on socks, pick anything up off the floor, struggled to wipe myself after going to the bathroom, things you just don't want to have to ask for help with. That lasted a couple weeks and Doctor said it was from an extra stitch on the inside to help prevent a hernia. He said not everyone gets that. If it hadn't have been for that it would have been a piece of cake! So after all this rambling I would say they were very very different but I could see VSG being a lot easier.

I had two C sections and while recovery wasn't horrible (like Christinamo I got a baby!) it was in my opinion much harder than recovery for the sleeve.

With sleeve I went in Weds, out Thursday, weekend was devoted to walking out the gas pains (That. Part. Hurt) and by Monday I was back to errands, dog park, gardening.

With a c section you get the gift of a child. With a sleeve you get the gift of a healthier you- it's all good! :)

Best of luck and take care.

@@Kindra11 Thanks for posting this. I was wondering the same thing. I appreciate all you women who have spoken up. :) Somehow, I think I'm going to enjoy being skinny more than I enjoy dealing with two now teenage daughter (16 and 13)!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
