4 months since lapband removed ISSUES

Recommended Posts

So i had my lapband removed January 2016 as an emergency it was a pretty major slip and since having my band in i had nothing but problems... now it is out and has been around 4 and a half months i still cant seem to come back to normal. I sometimes have difficulty swallowing food and i have really bad shoulder tip pain in my left side that wont go away. I missed my follow up appointment with the surgeon who removed the band and now awaiting to see him in his private offices for some advice but in the mean time id just like to know if this is normal or not.

Since the bad had been removed i have gained around 4kg so not to much and have started going to the gym two mostly three times a weeks doing intense cardio and aerobics classes maybe this is causing the tip pain in my shoulder? I have no clue.malso booked in with a GP tomorrow for blood work.

Any advice appreciated

Thanks x

I also had my band removed. It was removed on April 1st, 2016. I still have some issues keeping food down. I had a contrast done, and I have a stricture. I wonder if that is not what is wrong with you. I guess it is pretty common because of the scar tissue and edema. I am also not back to normal. I still have a feeding tube in that I get nutrition from 10 hours a day and I still get so tired. Good luck on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
