Post Your Silly Rant

Recommended Posts

Ugh, I have a friend who keeps asking me my opinion about her horrid deadbeat dad of a boyfriend and the messed up baby-mama-drama she's dealing with. My opinion: dump the man, move on. What she wants me to say: He's going to get a restraining order against his baby mama, he's going to get his kid from her, he's going to move to your town and marry you and you'll have lots of babies and live happily ever after!!!

Every time I point out one of this guy's many, many flaws she comes back with some sort of BS defense or rationalization. She's living in a dream world. I've stopped engaging altogether.

People who ask for advice and opinions, and then get pissed when the honest advice given does not justify the action they are trying to rationalize, Never ask a question whose honest answer you don't want to hear. Or at least preface your request with "I am looking only for responses that agree with/justify what I did!"

I feel better now!

There is not even enough space for me to write all of my rants but my biggest one right now is of people that don't proofread before posting something! READ it folks...if it doesn't make sense rewrite it and learn the difference between to, too and two as well as their and there!!

How about people who don't respond to your questions or ask you to repeat what you said because they are hyper focused on texting and emailing on their cellphone when you are trying to talk to them?

I feel like grabbing their cellphone and throwing it at their head (the way "Ignatz" the mouse threw a brick at "Krazy Kat's" head).

Or, totally apropos to this forum: lose and loose (or losing and loosing).

These are first or second grade words, folks. Are you really okay with 6- and 7-year old children having better English skills than you?

"When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. "

Best thread ever! My rants (so far!) are:

People on beautiful idyllic birdsong-filled trails listening to their crappy tinny music on their phones ON SPEAKER while they hike!

People who take dogs on trails without leashes when it's a posted requirement, and they're ALWAYS the dogs that aggressively come charging up to my timid formerly-abused Golden Retriever. "There's a leash rule here" "Oh, I have one in my pocket, but my dog doesn't like them." Sheesh.

Family members and friends who know you're pre-planning all meals, and yet refuse to let you know what's on the menu ahead of time when they're hosting (I always ask), AND then get pissed when you don't eat the rediculously over-rich over-large nutritionally-bereft food they serve.

People who act irritated that you're not wanting to imbibe or overeat to keep them company.

Didn't read the whole thread, so I don't know if this was mentioned:

People who INSIST on taking their dogs to the f**king store with them on hot days and leaving them in the car!

LEAVE. THE. DOG. HOME.

I WILL be either beat up or arrested someday when I am forced to break someone's window. I swear to God I will.

Dealt with this one today, which is one of the things that kills me. When people never have the ringer on, on their cell phone and therefor never answer when you call. This inevitably will be the same person who will blow up your phone and send the cops over to the house if you happen to be in the shower and unable to answer their call. FYI, true story as far as the cops knocking on my door as I am getting out of the shower.

Oh, oh! You reminded me of another thing!

Just TEXT me. Honestly, unless it needs to be a 20 minute phone conversation with details, just text me the quick sentence or question you need to ask. No need to call. I probably will answer faster if you text anyway ;)

One more from today...

When you "really" have to use the restroom and are waiting patiently while doing the happy dance and hear someone playing a game on their cell phone in the stall. Coughing repeatedly didn't seem to help. After 10 minutes I braved a run to another wing of the hospital to find another RR. I swear if I had been in a patient wing, I would have paid an anonymous stranger a visit!

How come hot dogs are packaged 10 to a container but how dog Buns are packaged 8 in a bag?

Enquiring minds would like to know.

(No, I don't want a scientific response for an answer. This was only meant as a joke.

Just post a silly rant here. No need to cause a controversy, just something we all can share a laugh about.)

Because they think of bariatric patients that don't eat buns? :)

Or worse, leave you a voice mail that says, "Hey Lipstick! I have a question for you. Call me back, please!"

Usually the question is something stupid and can be answered in 5 words or less, but they WILL NOT just leave the question. Unnecessary phone tag is the result.

Since cellphones seem to be the topic of many rants, how about people who send huge, detailed texts on cellphones.

I do not have a smart phone, it is a basic phone not one of the I-Phones or equivalent. It is very cumbersome to type a response back with the little slide out keyboard.

It is much easier to manage an email and reply to it properly when I am replying to an email using a computer.

Also, I make people aware I can not carry around a cellphone at work and the above issue of it being a basic phone, yet they still send me texts the size of "War and Peace".

Back in the day, we use to call someone and speak to them. I guess I'll have to text them first to let them know I will be calling them. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
