I had an episode which was so bad I was taking a bulking agent first. When that didn't work in 12 hours I took a laxative. Another overnight and no progress. Then a second dose.

It all hit at once while I was driving to church. It was bad.

Since WLS surgery? Nothing. Not even the (relatively mild) gall bladder attack or GB surgery / recovery 4 weeks post-WLS.

But pre-op -- it was WAITING FOR THE DAMN SURGERY TO FINALLY FREAKIN' HAPPEN!

My surgeon was so backed up with huge demand. So jumping through all the pre-op hoops took a long time. It made me so crazy that I finally put myself on a diet and lost 11 pounds prior to the liver-shrinking diet.

Pre-op, I also practiced all the post-op eating behaviors -- eating slower, chewing lots more, not drinking with meals, drinking 64 ounces of Water daily, walking more (bought a Fitbit and got up and moved), took Vitamins, started tracking all my food on My Fitness Pal, etc.

I was like a kid who wore a Batman cape everywhere because he thinks he's Batman.

So when I hear about pre-op patients who are having a month of last suppers and whining about the liver-shrinking diet and worrying about losing their hair somewhere down the road and drama-llamaing about potential loose skin and not being able to close down the bars every weekend and other s**t like that, I just shake my head.

Don't they know how wonderful this surgery is going to be for them and that it will be worth any inconveniences and lifestyle changes required of them?

Again -- shaking my head.

(I may have had too much coffee this morning.)

VSGAnn is my hero....wanna be just like her one day soon.

Worst experience for me was drinking that liquid barium as the first thing that went into my new tummy 9 months ago. I was SO determined NOT to throw up with my new tummy. Little did I know what the 2nd worst thing was....projectile poop when it came out the other end. But ever since then it has been smooth sailing and couldn't be happier[emoji4]

Rice - tried 2 spoons of it at the 6-week mark, and it felt like I had swallowed a quart of concrete!!

Scared of the 8 days of no pooping post surgery...yes that too shall pass. It turned out to be a non-problem. It sucked that I gained weight post surgery, but it went away quickly after the IV fluids left my system. I really hated that I had pizza 8 weeks post op, that crap got all stuck and ended up retching. (Never again). But over all, not getting it done sooner. But I'm a hard ass who thought this was the easy way out and didn't really look at it in a significant way until two years ago.

Three months and a half post op, I would say:

- Constipation.< /p>

- The "hypotension" problems I had the first two weeks.

- God damn CPAP machine that I can't wait to get rid of (unrelated to the surgery but I really hate this machine).

- The acid reflux that I have sometimes.

For the rest, it's been good, so far I've lost 64pounds (29kgs), so kinda happy!

Four months out:
Constipation

Wanting to get of the cpap machine

Morning dizziness(I don't know why but it goes away fast)

Being cold all the time

Vomiting because my stomach didn't like something one week and loved a couple of weeks later

High sense of smell

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
