JenniferPenelope 23 Posted June 1, 2016 Today my old blender decided it won't be going on this weight loss journey with me.... I'm thinking of getting a Ninja to replace it, but that got me wondering - what small appliances and kitchen gadgets do you find to be particularly helpful with your post-surgery food prep? Cervidae 2,389 Posted June 1, 2016 My mainly-used appliances are: my nutribullet, my little food scale, and my crock pot. I also use measuring cups multiple times a day, so I would recommend getting a durable glass set, and plan to love them for a long time.
daniotra 298 Posted June 1, 2016 A food scale. I got an Instant Pot (electric pressure cooker/steamer/slow cooker) a while back and love it. I use it for Beans and meat. The instant pot is definitely a "luxury" as you could do everything on the stove, but I like the convenience. PinkPolkadot619 337 Posted June 1, 2016 I am 20 months out and still use my scale and measuring cups all the time! I also often use my nutibullet.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted June 1, 2016 I have a small kitchenette (no oven or stove) so I use a lot of gadgets. Mostly: microwave, toaster oven, crock pot, and of course my food scale. I have an egg cooker, panini press/grill, electric skillet, and rice cooker that I use less often, mostly because of lack of counter space. The rice cooker is great for steaming vegetables, fish, etc. 1 heatherjudson reacted to this
JenniferPenelope 23 Posted June 1, 2016 Thanks for your recommendations! I've got a crock pot, scale and measuring instruments and I added a three tiered food steamer to my wedding registry. My surgery is in five days and I can't wait to be able to cook again! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App 1 heatherjudson reacted to this
Daniel2015 262 Posted June 1, 2016 I have a great little gadget that I use once or twice a week...it's a Veggetti. It spiralizes veggies for faux veggie "pasta". I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond for $10-awesome!!! I ate off the spiralized menu at Houlihan's and loved the dish so much, I went out looking for my own tool. I don't recommend much, but this I truly love and use, plus it's very inexpensive. Happy cooking & best of luck on your journey! ~Daniel Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Daniel2015 262 Posted June 2, 2016 And for a scale, I love my Cuisinart digital scale because I can weigh in grams or ounces. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

smith08817 23 Posted July 19, 2016 I use my Ninja every day to make a Protein Shake to take to work with me. I often make one for my granddaughter to have for Breakfast too. My vegetti gets used at least once a week to make zoodles to eat with spaghetti sauce and parmesan. I use my food scale when I need to get an exact amount. 1-1/2 oz of meat can be tricky to eye-ball. I also use small plates and bowls which helps me control the amount of food I take to eat. Most of the time I still can't finish what's on the small plate. At first I used baby spoons but that quickly became annoying. I do use a salad fork instead of a dinner form. All these little things help trick the mind into being satisfied with eating less.
