debd80 41 Posted June 1, 2016 Finally, after dealing with insurance nightmares, I was approved and surgery was scheduled for May 23, 2016. I was so excited! My surgeon didn't require any pre-op diets or requirements so all I had to do was wait. Fast forward to today. It's 3:00am, I can't sleep. I have GERD or esophageal spasms, or somethings going on - no idea what. Back pain and joint pain that make sleeping impossible. I feel weak, dizzy, lightheaded, and my belly itches like crazy! I'm just now able to eat pureed foods, but am scared. I have no idea how much to eat or what I should eat. I have trouble getting all my Water and Protein requirements met and I throw up after taking my Vitamins. The only plus is that I'm already down 23 pounds, and it's only been 8 days. Please, tell me this gets better! Help? Suggestions? Anything? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was put on an anti nausea pill and a pill from tummy spasms for my first three months because I couldn't keep anything down. I also have a slight stricture so pills would get stuck and I had trouble moving through my food phases. Stick to liquids for now if you have to. It's not uncommon for WLS patients to be on liquids for three weeks post op. I was. My pureed stage was week three through 6, but again, I moved very slowly. Protein drinks, SF pudding and Popsicles, Gatorade mixed with Water (unless you can tolerate G2), and as much water as you can handle. Walk. A LOT. Take your PPI. Call your surgeon about your Vitamins, pain and eating plan as these were just suggestions based on MY experience. It will get better.

debd80 41 Posted June 2, 2016 Thanks guys, actually feeling better today. After days of crying and barely being able to move, I woke up feeling ok. Started a regimen of 2 oz of my Protein shake every hour, at least that way it doesn't feel so daunting.
