finding_onederland 226 Posted June 1, 2016 Every.dang.day I go back & forth on whether or not to proceed with this process. I think about what I'll miss out on - I wonder if I'll be able to make the lifestyle changes I need to make - but then I see success stories & think what I could achieve!!! KristenLe 5,979 Posted June 1, 2016 Have you had counseling? I recommend it. This is a life altering surgery - so it's scary and might help to talk it out with a professional. I am in therapy pre-op and am amazed at the changes I've been able to make already.
Read2016 658 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) I think that sounds normal, you have to give it thought before you proceed... I was like that until I starting moving forward with the process... Now I'm like I decided to have the surgery lets get on with it... My surgeon suggested attending a support group to give me an opportunity to hear from those who have had it... I hope to do that this month.. They say the taste buds will change so many things we think we'll miss we won't because they would taste the way they use to. Were you seeing a counselor before the process, or is it part of the process? It is a good idea though! KristenLe 5,979 Posted June 1, 2016 I'm seeing the Psychologist who is part of my Bariatric Program. I requested extra counseling for emotional eating (mindless eating) during my Psych Eval. At the time I thought I had 6 months of a supervised weight loss program and figured I'd take advantage of the time. I've been 3 times (1 hr every 2 weeks) and it's really helping. Not only with my eating habits but in every day life too. I had never been to therapy before.
