Hello all, I am a Newbie.

Before my surgery i weighed 267 and surgery was May 12 and i currently weigh 247 and for 1 1/2 weeks ,I have not lost anything. I have maintained 247-246.6

Is this normal?, I have read about the stretching of the pouch, and not chewing your food as fast and drinking Water at the same time. And since i have been reading so much about it ,im scared i will stretch my pouch.

Now when i was loosing a pound a day i was not really eating, just like 3 table spoons of Jello and 3 sips of broth if that and water.

I have now incorporated cottage cheese, hummus here and there and what ever i cook like maybe 4 Table spoons of..

Not sure if i need to stick with just Protein for the whole month or what. Im not so quite sure to know when im getting full. I know when i eat and i swallow at time it hurts, i barf sometime water or soy milk if its like 20 mins after i eat.

Im dreading to call the Dr. But i think i should.

Did anyone else have a stand still, i do exercise like run up the bleachers.

Any help will be appreciated, only those that have had the surgery.

You are smack in the middle of the famous (or infamous perhaps) 3 week stall. You are doing everything right. It is totally normal. Your body just has to catch up. Ride it out. It will break soon and typically breaks by a pretty significant amount. in the meantime, stay of the scale for a week (if you can) and concentrate on your Protein, fluids and Vitamins.

As @InnerSurferGirl says, "Embrace The Stall"!!

Oh girl! Trust me, I totally understand! I think I have weighed every single day since surgery (and well likely for the 4 months before surgery!) I am approaching maintenance stage and am going to have to stay off the scale myself! It is so weird to not see the pounds dropping anymore and a tiny bit of panic when it goes up by 1 pound. I just have to get used to that part. I don't want to lose anymore but I don't want to gain either! :D Promise your stall will end! And the best part is, once it breaks, it sort of free falls for a week or so (seriously some people see 3 to 5 pounds in one day!)

My therapist asked me today "did you ever expect to be down 120 pounds in a year when you started this?" Um, nope. I sure didn't. I thought I was a pretty slow loser too but boy does it add up! You got this!!

I'm going through the exact same thing...u r not alone. I lost 10lbs pre op and 10lbs my first week ...Nothing since then and I'm now 3 weeks out. 20lbs in a month is a lot so I figure my body is catching up. I'll weigh in a few weeks.

It took me about 4 weeks to see a weight loss. Drove me crazy, but it finally happened. My surgery was March 14th and I am down over 90lbs. It will happen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
