lg999 7 Posted May 31, 2016 Hello, There is an Almoat Breakfast porridge that I love. I am trying understand what I should try to consume during the day once on the soft food and beyond phase. Here is the nutrition info for the product; could this be a good choice as it is high in Protein or bad because of carb content? Nutrition (per 100g) Energy 411 Kcal / 1719.6 Kj Protein 38 g Fat 22 g of which Saturates 7 g Carbohydtrates 17 g of which Sugars 2 g Fibre 13 g Salt 0.1 g Any comments appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 31, 2016 1/2 a serving/portion should be ok, at least based on my Program. You could divide it up over a couple of meals.
Read2016 658 Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) @ig999.... Fiber content gets subtracted from carbs... This item has net carbs of 4g... Can you take a picture of the label and post it? 38g of Protein seems very high, what serving size is that based on? perforce 243 Posted June 1, 2016 17g of carbs is quite high, but as it meet the other requirements (and the carbs are mostly fibre) I wouldn't call it a 'bad' choice. If you're comfortable folding it into your carb allowance then go for it. I try to go at least 2:1 on my protein:carb ratio, which this does hit, though personally I probably wouldn't because I try and keep carbs under 50g and this would be a big percentage of that at once. Basically: it's not terrible, your choice.
lg999 7 Posted June 1, 2016 Many thanks to all who replied. It's clear I have a lot to learn I need to find something like a 7 day plan that is optimum and tweak for me until I learn the right balance. Much appreciated!
