I get to meet the surgeon that will be performing my RNY tomorrow. The original surgeon that I met ended up accepting a job elsewhere. I've done a lot of research on this new Dr. I must say I am impressed however, did any of you find yourself eating out of control before your surgery. Overeating is a disease and I'm ready to begin my new life in a much healthier way, but I can't stop eating!!!!

Yes I did/am lol. I thought it was just me....I find myself eating things I haven't had in years just because I know after surgery I won't be able too.

My surgery is June 10th. I keep trying to eat all my favorites. I know I have a few other "last meals" planned but I've way over eaten lately. Didn't help that we were on vacation and had access to great seafood!

If you can avoid last meal syndrome, I definitely recommend doing that. You'll already have some healthy habits down and may have less to lose after surgery. That being said, I personally did not follow that same advice. I had about a three week period in which I enjoyed many last meals. I'm eight months out from RNY now and down more than 90 pounds. The tool helped me focus and cultivate and maintain good habits in a way I wasn't before. The most important thing is that you put your game face on after surgery, fully dedicate yourself and (perhaps literally) work your butt off.

I am still going down my check list getting things done before I am, hopefully, approved for surgery but yes, just today i binged. I don't know why but it seemed like my stomach was a bottomless pit and I just kept eating and eating. It's not usually that bad.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
