I struggled today at the, family cook out. Totally derailed. I did real good most of the day. Had a shake for Breakfast, and apple. Walked 3 miles with the hubster and dogs.Had a shake for lunch, nuts and apple for a snack. I wasn't really hungry allday. But boom... at the cook out all the bad eating happened. I was not hungry but I ate way too much and poorly. There were healthy options but I didn't choose wisely. I know I can't change things and I'll be back on it tomorrow. I have my 3rd pre op weigh in tomorrow so I'm stressing a bit. Over all I've been eating okay. A few of off the wagon eating but no where like before this process. I'm probably making too much out of it. But augh . I have a very busy 3 weeks with graduation, parties, a ball, and several picnics.

I read your post and thought this lady is a smart cookie. I think you should Celebrate that you know you made bad food choices today and know tomorrow the food choices will be better.

As an obese person when I think back on my eating I think how I would make bad food choices one day after the another until it was so out of control it was difficult pulling it back together...

Thanks. I'm just happy I recognize it so much better. Picnic season is harder for me than the winter holiday season.

I'm trying to come up with a better plan for the next picnic in 14 days. I might just bring my own food and sit away from the food or play with the kids.

I go to the ball in 7 days. It's amazing rum bar, scotch bar and tons of finger foods. I know how to avoid the bad stuff there. Although scotch and rum are my favorite drinks. Theyusually have,a great fruit and veggie spread.

That's tough.. I'd avoid the food table area. Drink Water or eat a popsicle. Not sure what your allowable food is but eat a hard boiled egg to kinda mock the texture of the potatoe?hang in there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
