Years out.... anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am 4 years out.... lost about 100 lbs... never reached my goal but feel so much better. Appetite returned and now it's sheer will power.

Having dehydration issues even though I drink Water ALL DAY LONG! Seems to now be affecting my bladder..... ugh Anyone else ever deal with this?

Sorry I'm a sleever..If the suggestions don't apply to by bypass..please ignore the post....

4 years...Congrats. Love to see veterans here. If you are drinking all day long..you are going to pee all day long.. ;) I agree with @@Christinamo7 check with your Dr. about diabetes and dehydration.

Hunger: A few things to try.

Do you still use a food tracking App? Track meals to keep accountable.

Up your Protein requirement.

Get a good portion of vegetables in with each meal. The Fiber helps keeping you full. I can eat a cup and a half at 2yrs. I'm curios, How much salad can you get in at 4 years?

If you have added carbs or sugar they will trigger cravings and hunger.

Spread your meals out six to eight small meals a day.

When you get head hunger..Keep yourself busy to avoid eating.

This may sound strange..Brush your teeth after each meal with mint tooth paste. Seems to work for me...*lol*

first off

welcome to the Bariatric Board

good for you testing the waters with this first post

i am also 4+ years post sleeve

i think tracking your food is very important to do

(works for me)

do you remember allll the rules associated with your WLS?

Water, Protein, carbs, sugar - amount of each to have

not drinking Water with meals, waiting about 30 minutes

after you eat before you drink? eating Protein first?

any questions, ask!

you are a VET with years WLS

but sounds like you are a newbie trying to get back on track

also go to the right hand corner and do a "search"

example put the word "coffee" and you'll get a bunch

of areas to look up, info

glad you are feeling and looking great

you MUST follow all the rules for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life

good luck

kathy

You should have some blood work done. You could be deficient in something and one sign of blood sugar being wonkers is thirst.

How long has it been since you've had your Calcium, vit D, vit B12 and Iron levels checked?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
